About Us
Akamai is the Hawaiian word for "smart". Our mission is to provide you with the smartest choice for your car rental here on our beautiful island of Kauai! My wife and I were both school teachers here on Kauai. We have 5 wonderful children! During the pandemic, we started doing research about Turo and fell in love with the idea. Started with my wife's van because her and the youngest 3 boys walked to school every morning. It snowballed from there and now we have a mini fleet and turned it into a family business. Even though our island is small, there are a million things to do and see here. My wife has lived here almost her entire life and I have lived here for over 8 years. Together we have lots of recommendations for the best beaches, places to eat, and local activities . . . just ask!
Through our affiliation with Turo, we're so happy to provide you with the vehicle that lets you see it all!

Not renting a car with us? No problem! Extra items can be rented on their own. Just get in touch by Facebook messenger (link to our page on the blue bar above) or email at akamaicrkauai@gmail.com to make arrangements.
If you are in need of an item you don't see on our lists, contact us and we will do our best to accommodate your request!

Seatbelts alone don't fit little ones. We've got you covered! Just select "add extras" on your Turo check-out page to add a safety seat rental to your total (or, see the "Baby and Kid Packs" drop-down menu for bundle options) and it will be waiting in the vehicle at check-in!
Front or rear-facing car seats and Booster seats $40
Hawai'i state law requires all children 7-years-old or younger to be in a booster or car seat.
***Safety seat rentals will not be buckled in at pick-up due to liability. Please ensure your child's seat is safely and snuggly buckled in before you leave the airport***
